Programs offered lead to a MSc and PhD degrees. 

Animals of significance to food production are the major interest and research emphasis. Fields of study include animal welfare, breeding and genetics, animal nutrition, animal physiology, and growth and metabolism. Collaboration with other departments offer unique opportunities encompassing food, nutritional and veterinary science.

A combination of advanced course work and research projects allows students the opportunity to develop skills and the intellectual curiosity that may further qualify students for a leadership role within the animal industry or serve as prerequisites for doctoral studies.
