Agriculture Economics and Business

The aim of these programs is to develop a fundamental understanding of economic principles and their application in identifying and solving relevant problems in agriculture and related fields. Programs also strive to develop sound analytical, methodological and communication skills required to effectively and efficiently solve the agriculture and resource problems in a complex dynamic agri-food system.

Areas of emphasis are vast and include: production economics, farm management, international economics, agriculture marketing, natural resource and environmental economics and agricultural policy and trade. All programs require that applicants have a solid background in micro and macro economic theory, calculus and algebra related to economics and a good understanding of statistics.

Programs combine both course work and research, usually taking at least two years to complete. Opportunities are available for Masters of Science (MSc), Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
